The Knux - Remind Me In 3 Days…

Friday, November 28th, 2008

the-knux.jpg
Big bass, beats and topped with a bit outkastish style - THE KNUX seem to reinvent the style appeared some years ago! The evolution of a sound which is inbetween Pop corn, Peanut butter cookies and Rockstar Energy Drinks!

Here you get two little tastes about this “80’s Urban Hipstar Movement” - Cappuccino and Roxxanne
My Opinion: “Why rap about Money and Girls when you can rap about Cappuccino?”

PNAU feat. Ladyhawke - Embrace
PNAU did it again, Ladyhawke did it again - but finally together, bringing out this 80ies inspired dancesong. A little of Giorgio with the organ in the back, this Route66-keep-on-going beat and this soften Ladyhawke voice on top!
I remember PNAU from it’s previous work - “Baby” (breakbot remix) and you can feel the aussie-flow in the songs! Like the sun would always shine and probably it does in downunder. While we are directing right to wintertime and probably need to heat us up with a cup of JAEGER, aussies are laying on the beach and drinking SPRITZ! Life can be sooo cruel aka cool!!

La Roux - Quicksand
La Roux is a Kitsune child - coming out with Quicksand, where you have this single femaile voice without any big sideeffects. Especially this “UUEEEEHHHH” works hard on the fact that female voice in a song are sexy as hell! La Roux is on Kitsune and you will find the song on the Kitsune Compilation 6!

In Prison My Whole Life - Abu Jamal Documentary

Friday, November 7th, 2008

This documentary tells the story about Abu Jamal, who was sentenced to prision in 1981. The journalist, activist and member of the Black-Power-Movement was accused to have murded a policeman. Since then he asserts to be innocent.
This documentary shows the life of Abu Jamal in all its issues. From his activism to his last 25 years in prision and the way he became a symbol for black activism! Which is a pretty interesting issue after Obama’s election to the 44th president of USA.

On the OST of this movie you can find a masterpiece of a band and an artist that are the storytellers of our generation in the last decade - Massive Attack feat. Snoop Dogg.

We Are Scientists - Impatience

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

We all love We Are Scientists - this is one of my favourite songs of Brain Thrust Mastery - it’s so upbeat and catchy. It’s obviously about a relationship, and one of them is being told by the other to slow down and not be so “impatient”.

The song has this marvelous groove of keep going and going and going…and the good things - it’s keeps most of the time his tension! A song which I would open the window for and playing out loud!

Trouble Andrew - What’s So Strange About Me (Cover)

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Once again - Trevor aka Trouble Andrew is guest on DLN! As a musician with Skate-/Snowboard backround it’s clear that his music is inspired by them aswell. This is a cover from the German band Eight Dayz whom singer was a 80’s famous skater - Claus Grabk.

So seems that every song has his own roots - like “what’s so strange about me”!

As a little gift you can hear his new song which is featured by Diplo “Run/Hide”. This collab is a piece taken from the fresh Diplo/Santogold record “Top Ranking” - uhhh it’s getting weird…Santogold? Trouble? Diplo? all together…but wait on the records you will find M.I.A. too…it’s like a huge collage of different artists, different styles, different colours - and in the end everything fits perfect like a handmade Armani suit!

Justice - Planisphere 4/4

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Music and Fashion have been always a perfect couple. The one walks hand in hand with the other. So seems Justice fits perfectly in the new Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2009 show - you already know the way Justice are playing but still they two parisenne guys have this gift to keep suspence on and on all track long!

After Daft Punk last year for Louis Vitton, Justice follow with a track which is actually dividable in 4 different part, where the last part haven’t been used for the show.

Spacesounds and the classique Justice-Beats - it’s nice but a little repeating. It has been like this for over 2 years now…I don’t know if I still like it or if I need a new headbanger - just like Justice’s song “We are your friend”, over 4 years ago @ Plastic!

Fujiya & Miyagi - Knickerbocker

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Fujiya&Miyagi

Once agian Fujiga&Miyagi came out with a super super super song. “Knickerbocker” is the first piece of their outcoming follower of “Transparent Things”. Do you remember “Ankle Injuries” or “Conductor 71″ - in 2006 these songs entered in my playlist and kept their position till today.

And now “Knickerbocker” is joining this club. With this “vanilla strawberry knickerbocker” intro my feet are already tipping on the floor, while my head is ready to keep the pace of the upcoming baseline - just a simple, lifely and in some way funky structure invites anyone to join the dancefloor!

“Lightbulbs” is coming out soon!

Oh and wait before I forget:
Fujiya&Miyagi are playing in

Rome - Aug31 @ Circus Maximus
Milan - Oct08 @ Rocket Club

Bloc Party - Intimacy

bloc2.jpg

Finally, we were waiting for this. The third longplayer of the 4 U.K. guys will be out soon and some first appetizers are prepared to serve.  The first new piece was “Mercury”: Mercury in retrograde refers to the 3 times of year when Mercury appears to rotate backwards from earth. In astrology it refers to times when we direct our thoughts inward and have trouble expressing our thoughts outward.

Now I bring “Biko” and “A Month Off” to you - and it seems obvious, that the all track are refered in a way to mythology - so don’t stay on the surface, grab a pale and dig deeper. It’s worth - “Intimacy” has something more reflecting, some more questions and a lot more of momentariness!
