Foals – Spanish Sahara

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Building houses is not something happens all at once… it’s made by mancraft, stone after stone and with the time you can imagine how it’s gonna look like and how it’s gonna feel like inside. At the beginning you have the plan and time passes by and you can open the door and walk thru you new home – same for this track!
This is the first cut out of the new Foals’ album ‘Total Life Forever‘ coming out this May 10. At the beginning the song goes and goes and suddenly it builds and builds to a amazing sounding castle and ends in an orchestral hocus pokus. Supported by a dreaming world of images this track surrounds my heart by a warm foam.

Vampire Weekend – Giving Up The Gun

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

‘Contra’ is really a great follower to their selftitled ‘Vampire Weekend’. This is the second official music weekend coming out and again suberbly made.

Directed by The Malloys, the video features cameos from Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil’ Jon and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Theophilus London – Humdrum Town

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Don’t get blinded by his name ‘Theophilus London’, he is not Londinese but comes straight from NYC, Brooklyn. We love this song and it reminds strongly of a West Side hip hopper who got shot in 1996: Lesane Parish Crooks aka 2Pac.

This style of “Soul pop new wave hip hop” is kind of fresh, britsh sounding and brookblyn based. Theo’s musical chops bridges hip-hop, indie-rock, and electronica while he is pointedly avoiding any pit-stops in disco rap.

Caribou Mt McKinley

2 days ago the Olympic Games in Vancouver officially started – sadly to report a first death in a sport where a sport has to walk a fine line between entertainment, risk and spectacularity.

We celebrate our Olympic Games musicwise and selected some fine tunes all coming from Canada – a country were bears and salmons are home and good music seems to be find on each streetcorner.

Caribou – Odessa

Chromeo – Fancy Footwork

Arcade Fire – Rebellion Lies
